Arms pilferage case : NIA files charge sheet against cops

The National Investigation Agency, Guwahati, on January 27, filed charge sheet before the Special NIA Court Dimapur, Nagaland in against five police officials of Nagaland Police in connection with misappro-priating huge quantity of ammunition.
The accused police personnal have been identified as Enyihi @ Enyimi Chakhesang, Sejongmong Sangtam, James Ovung, Longlise Sangtam and Sashitsungba Ao @ Sashitsungba Longcher.
They have been charged under different sections of the Arms Act.
These police officials include one in the rank of Superintendent of Police and another in the rank of SDPO of Nagaland.
During the process of investigation, the accused police officials were found involved in misappropriation of huge quantities of ammunition from the Arms Kote of district police Wokha, Nagaland by preparing forged documents during the period of 2011-2012, with an ulterior motive.
From the facts revealed during investigation, it has been established that the charge sheeted police personnel including the senior officials during their service tenure in the district of Wokha, entered into a criminal conspiracy with common intention to commit criminal breach of trust by indulging in pilferage of huge quantities of live ammunition from Government Kote and to sell those ammunition to anti-National elements in exchange of money, said an NIA press release.
