Imphal, April 28 2016: The Gangte Tribe Union (GTU), Gangte Youth Organisation (GYO) and Gangte Students' Organisation (GSO) have condoled the demise of Lhingjaneng Gangte, the first woman Padmashree award winner from Manipur, who passed away on April 26 .

In a condolence message, the three Gangte bodies remembered Padmashree Lhingjaneng as a caring mother, a devout wife and an untiring social welfare activists.

It also said that the contributions of Padmashree Lhingjaneng for the protection and promotion of the Gangte tribe were matchless.

Her conviction and her roles for protection of her tribe's identity protection during the tribe's tumultous phase was most of all unmatched, it said and added that no one and nothing can fill the void created by the loss of Padmshree Lhingjaneng.

"We are deeply pained and words are of no help in expressing the sorrow we feel at this moment," the message read while adding her contributions to the Manipur society in general and the Gangte community in particular would be cherished in times to come.

It also expressed sincere sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed that the departed soul rest in peace.
