Imphal, December 26 2014 : The All Manipur Newspaper Sales and Distributors Association (AMNSDA) celebrated its 30th foundation day today at Ningomthong Soram Leirak Youth Welfare club's com-munity hall.

The event was graced by Thongju A/C MLA Thongam Bishorjit Singh, AMNSDA president Konsam Ibotombi, Thongju Part I Pradhan Yenkhom Thoibi, Thongju Part II pradhan Nameirakpam Chingkhei and Torban Kshetri Leikai Gram Panchayat Pradhan Longjam Sunil as functional chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

MLA Bishorjit, during his speech, said the masses must appreciate the contributions made by hawkers.

He further urged the association to submit written application to the concerned authority in order to acquire the benefits provided by PDS for hawkers.

The MLA later also donated a sum of Rs 10000 to the association for its developmental works in the course of the function.

One speaker who addressed the gathering ex- pressed disappointment over the recurrent attacks on hawkers by both State and Central forces and also the indifference shown by the State Government regarding the matter.

All the participating hawkers, including two female hawkers were also honoured during the event.
