MDS, Loktak cases handed over to CBI

Imphal, April 26 2018:
Both cases of misappropriation of Rs 185.79 crore deposited at Manipur Development Society (MDS) and management and removal of Phumdi from Loktak Lake have been handed over to the CBI.
This was informed by Chief Minister N Biren while speaking to media persons today by the sideline of a review meeting on the Government's preparations for the Go to Village mission.
Biren said that cases taken up by Police and Vigilance with regard to misappropriation of funds from MDS have been handed over to CBI.
Ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, three former Chief Secretaries and a former Project Director of MDS are named in the case registered at Imphal police station.
The Chief Minister further informed that the case taken up by Vigilance with regard to management and removal of Phumdi from Loktak Lake too has been handed over to the CBI.
Ex-Chief Minister Okram lbobi and two former Directors of MDS are named in this case too.
Meanwhile, NIA has taken over the case of disappearance of 56 small arms from 2nd MR.A team of NIA will land here within a week, Biren said.
