Imphal, April 26 2015 :
Nurses Association, TNAI JNIMS Unit has said that the State Government's indifferent attitude towards the grievances of the nurses has compelled them to go on their stir.
In a statement, the association said that JNIMS nurses understand the inconvenience caused to the general public due to the ongoing stir.
However, it is the State Government, who have compelled the nurses to go on the stir, the statement alleged.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, who is also the president of JNIMS Society, had neither responded to the memorandum submitted to him nor invited the association executives for talks to sort out the impasse.
The statement further said that the State Government has failed to acknowledge the dedicated services of JNIMS nurses, especially the senior nurses.
It said that the nurses who were terminated from the State Health Department to join JNIMS in 2010 are yet to receive the GPF amount in their bank accounts.
As a result, senior nurses face lots of inconveniences at the time of retirement, the statement added.
The statement further said that although many nurses wish to return to the State Health Department due to bad service condition at JNIMS, they are not permitted to do so.
The association also urged the general public to extend support to the ongoing stir understanding their grievances.
Meanwhile Contract Staff Nurses Association, Porompat staged a sit-in-protest inside JNIMS campus demanding service regularisation of JNIMS contract nurses today.
Speaking at the sideline of the of the protest Zeneeta Laishram, president Contract Staff Nurses Association said the association had submitted a memorandum to JNIMS authority demanding recommendation by the Director of JNIMS for regularisation of 48 contractual staff nurses and recognition of the same by the Medical Council of India (MCI) .
The memorandum had also demanded JNIMS authority to stop appointment of new staff nurses, either contract or regular, until their demands are met.
