Solidarity to striking Manipur Trade Unions

Imphal, March 26 2018: North-East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS) extends its support to the striking employees and workers of Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions Council and the All Manipur Government Employees Organisation.

The strikers have been demanding implementation of 7th Pay Commission's recommendations in the state and have demanded that the government should give a written commitment on when the same will be implemented in Manipur.

It should be known that out of all the states in which BJP is in power, Manipur is the only state where the recommendations have not been implemented.

What is ironic is the fact the BJP had before the elections made promises of implementing the recommendations in its vision document, but once in power it claims that being a resourceless state, Manipur cannot implement the higher pay.

This is surprising since vast public resources in the state are being siphoned off to corporates instead of being put to public use, while the govt irresponsibly makes apathetic statements.

Such apathy reveals the anti-people nature of the present government.

NEFIS condemns the government's attitude and will intensify its movement against the anti-people policies of the present govt .
