Orientation visit conducted

The Department of Social Work, Don Bosco College (Autonomous) Maram conducted a five-day orientation visit for Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) second-semester students at Ukhrul district from February 20 to 24, 2023 .
The 32 student trainees were supervised by 2 Assistant Professors, Dr Nula Bethel and Dr Evergreat Wanglar.
The orientation's primary goal was to introduce the students to the fieldwork portion of social work education and study how various organisations work with society's most vulnerable & underprivileged people.
To learn about their operations, social issue initiatives, and approaches to problem-solving for societal change, students were exposed to various social organisations.
Over the course of 5 days, students-trainees visited Districts AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) and ART Centre at Ukhrul District Hospital, FXB India Suraksha, Village Volunteer Development (VVD), Participatory Action for Sustainable Development (PASDO) and Backward Development Service Open Shelter Home for Girls.
The interactions with the heads of different organisations and institutions led to enlightening conversations and an excellent learning opportunity for the student trainees.
They were educated on and exposed to social work's practical components.
The students also visited St Joseph College, Ukhrul and interacted with BSW students of the Social Work Department.
