Agri-preneurs meet held

Imphal, November 25 2011: With the stated objective of establishing close coordination between the producers and promoters of agricultural items, North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Limited hosted a seminar cum capacity building programme at Classic Hotel today under the sponsorship of North Eastern Council, Shillong.

Speaking as the chief guest at the programme aimed at empowering 'agri-preneurs' State's Commerce and Industries Director V Thualthang said not only will the economy of Manipur improve substantially through increase in the production of agricultural produce there is also need for streamlining the marketing aspect.

As functional president the host Guhawati-based Corporation's Senior Marketing Manager Ashok angadi declared that there is a unique taste of all agricultural crops grown/produced in the soil of Manipur.

He exhorted that such invaluable produces should be ensured a proper marketing mechanism so that the farmers reap benefit for their toil in the fields.

The programme also included technical sessions with NABARD General Manager SV Nemlekar, ATMA's Assistant Nodal Officer N Biren Singh, MFBL Managing Director N Santa Singh, NEDFi (Imphal) Assistant Manager Rajiv Khaidem and Commerce & Industries Deputy Director S Joykumar elucidating on related issues as the resource persons.
