Imphal, July 25 2013:
Blaming Additional Secretary (Finance) Jain Prakash for deferring payment of compensation for trucks set ablaze during people's protest, the Transporters' and Drivers' Forum (TDF) Manipur has asserted that Jain Prakash should be held accountable for any untoward incident resulting out of his delaying tactics.
Speaking to some media persons today, TDF executive member and NH 53 Trucks Owners' Association president Kh Inaoba remarked it was strange that Jain Prakash was neglecting a matter which has been endorsed by the State Cabinet and repeatedly tabled in the State Assembly.
When a team of TDF met Jain Prakash today, the latter said that he would not sanction even Rs five lakhs as compensation for vandalised trucks was a matter of insurance.
Notably, the forum launched indefinite cease work strike in the first of July demanding payment of compensation for vandalised trucks as well as establishment of highway protection force.
The agitation was called off on July 2 after the forum struck an agreement with Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
The Home Department issued necessary orders on July 5 .
