CBI takes over MDS, LDA cases

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has reportedly taken over the MDS case and sought permission of the State Government to investigate former Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, former Project Director of MDS Y Ningthem Singh, former Chief Secretaries DS Poonia, PC Lawmkunga, O Nabakishore Singh and Administrative Officer S Ranjit Singh.
A reliable source informed The Sangai Express that the letter issued by CBI from its headquarters at New Delhi on October 18 was received by Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu yesterday.
The Government is however yet to give the permission to CBI.
The CBI has also conveyed to the State Government that it has taken over the case of launching an investigation against Ch Gojendro Singh, the then Project Director of Loktak Development Authority under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act of 2018 and other offences relating to the same transactions/offences.
Accordingly the State Government has given approval to the CBI to start the investigation.
An official notification towards this effect has been issued by the Government.
