Imphal, August 21 2021:
The Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has expressed resentment over the Education Directorate's adamant insistence on laying down cut off marks for admission to Government Higher Secondary Schools.
MSF, in a statement said that a team of the body met Director of Education (S) and Commissioner in connection with the issue but the officials had turned down all their demands which include revocation of orders laying down cut off marks for admission to various streams in Class XI in Government Higher Secondary Schools and proposal for online entrance test.
The Class X Examination (HSLCE) conducted by the Board of Secondary School Education Manipur was cancelled and subsequently 47208 students were declared pass in various divisions based on some assessment of the students, it noted.
The Director of Education (S) on August 2 notified that the overall seat capacity of all streams Arts/Science/Commerce in 57 Government Higher Secondary School was 13865, said MSF while adding that it had felt that promoted or passed out students would be given equal opportunity.
But sadly, the students, some of whom had even started registration, had to face a big hurdle with the implementation of the mark based admission process, it said.
MSF would have warmly welcomed the admission module on the basis of cut off marks had there been no Covid pandemic and students were not promoted sans examinations, it said.
What is more discouraging is the commencement of the admission process before an amicable and just conclusion to the issue has been reached yet with the authorities of the Education Department, it said.
Such lack of concern on the part of authorities is uncalled for, said MSF while adding that it will continue to stick to its cause to ensure justice and equal treatment to all students.
