Imphal, May 21 2012:
The underground Hmar People's Convention (D) has denied the charge allegedly framed against its cadre Sangzuol that he was involved in the abduction and killing of a businessman Apu Jain last October.
In a statement, information and publicity secretary of the HPC (D), Jackie Hmar clarified that Sangzuol Hmar is not an ex-HPC (D) cadre as claimed by the SF, but a cadre of HPC (D) whose name also figures in the list of HPC (D) cadres submitted to the MHA as part of the SoO agreement.
Sangzuol was reportedly arrested by troops of 1/11 GR under 27 Sector AR on May 16 from a house in Khawmawi Village, Churachandpur.
Stating that Sangzuol is a victim of conspiracy designed by a few personnel of the security forces and the expelled H Zosangbera group, the statement also questioned as to why the expelled group who are not even part of SoO agreement continues to roam freely with arms and choose to arrest a cadre who is officially part of SoO .
Clarifying that Sangzuol has nothing to do with the abduction and killing of Apu Jain, the statement alleged that few SF personnel had framed him for their personal gain.
