Imphal, July 20 2024: A man has been found shot dead at Takhel Ngaram road, Imphal East under Lamlai police station.

The man was found dead with fatal bullet injury on his head on the side of Takhel Ngaram road at around 3.20 pm today.

The man was found blindfolded and his hands were tied behind.

Apart from Lamlai police, a team of State forensic science experts too rushed to the spot and carried out inquest of the dead body as well as the surrounding areas.

The identity of the deceased could not be established till the time of filing this report.

The dead body has been deposited at JNIMS morgue.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Lamlai police station in connection with the incident.

On the other hand, one man was shot on both the legs by some unidentified men on Nganglou Taralou road, Thoubal district under Lilong police station last night.

The victim has been identified as Md Abdul Salam (37) of Hatta Golapati Ma-ning Leikai Lane-7, Imphal East.

As he was found with bullet injuries on both his calves, he was taken to Noor Hospital, Lilong.

Although who shot Md Abdul Salam and why could not be ascertained so far, it is suspected that he was shot in connection with a drug case.

He was pulled up by one organisation sometime back for dealing in drugs.

In a video clip circulated on social media, Md Abdul Salam was saying that he was shot for dealing in drugs despite a warning he received earlier.

He also said that he would accept whatever punishment awarded to him by the group in the future in case if he ever goes back to the drug business.

However, he did not mention the name of the particular group.
