Imphal, June 20 2019:
A public discourse on the State's current financial crisis was held today at Manipur Press Club under the aegis of CPI Manipur State Council.
CPI State Secretary L Sotinkumar, former CMO Thoubal Dr Kshetri Manglem and CPI leader Langol Iboyaima attended the public discourse as presidium members.
Speaking at the gathering, Sotinkumar said that the CPI Manipur State Council is organising the public discourse so that people can share their thoughts and opinions on how the State Government ran into overdraft after huge amounts were released when the election model code of conduct was in force.
In addition to the financial crisis, the coalition Government was gripped by a political crisis resulting from internal power struggle, Sotinkumar said.

Everybody wants to know where the huge amounts withdrawn when the election code of conduct was in force were utilised.
It is possible that the huge amounts were withdrawn and utilised in the 17th Lok Sabha election, he continued.
The State Government might have a notion that the Central Government would sanction adequate funds for the State as BJP is heading both the State Government and the Central Government, there is no other way of neutralising the overdraft except borrowing money, he asserted.
Given the State's present financial position, the employees' aspiration for the 7th Pay would not be fulfilled any time soon.
Whatever little honorarium given to VDF personnel may not be received regularly now.
Moreover Muster Roll and Work Charge employees would face a hard time, he said.
Saying that prices of all essential commodities may escalate sharply, Sotinkumar underscored the importance of analysing the State's financial condition thoroughly.
