The Ministry of Urban Development has recommended the External Affairs Ministry's Department of Economic Affairs to do the needful so that foreign funding agencies are allowed to invest in Manipur in mega water sup-plyprojects.
The Ministry of Urban Development has recommended the Department of Economic Affairs, MEA to seek foreign investment of Rs 990 crore for taking up water supply projects in greater Imphal area and another Rs 1200 crore for taking up similar projects at other towns of the State, informed a source.
The source informed that the Ministry of External Affairs would soon initiate necessary process so that the major water supply projects can be taken up in the State.
These projects would supply 45 million litres of water per day at Imphal and the water would be drawn from Chingkhei Ching.
Meanwhile, it is reported that three water supply projects would be taken up at Senapati, Churachandpur and Thongju, Imphal East under DoNER Ministry's North East Infrastructure Development Scheme.
The new water supply projects would be linked with tourism and they would have modem amenities for tourism, added the source.
