The Rifleman of 12 Assam Rifles (posted at Khudengthabi), allegedly misbehaved and assaulted the lady IPS officer and her escort party at Khudengthabi AR check post yesterday evening, according to an FIR lodged with Tengnoupal Police Station.
The FIR was based on a complaint lodged by the lady officer before the OC, Tengnoupal PS.
In the complaint, the lady officer claimed that after her regular duty at Moreh, she was returning along with her escort party in her official vehicle and on reaching Khudengthabi 12 AR D-Company check post, one of her escort personnel tried to inform the frisking party of 12th AR and register their entry.
Stating that she along with her escort team showed their ID cards as they were on official duty, she claimed that one of the Riflemen, PK Pandey, however, detained them and started threatening them that they will be detained till midnight.
The Rifleman further told them that even if they inform DGP and the Chief Minister, he will not let them leave at all, the complainant alleged, adding that even when she told him that she is a police officer and showed her identity card, the Rifleman began misbehaving, humiliating, harassing and assaulting her.
He also began hitting the vehicle and also assaulted her escort party.
The lady officer continued that the Rifleman started physically assaulting and molesting her and when her escort tried to intervene, he started thrashing and beating them.
She claimed that the Rifleman even tried to slap her but was stopped by her escort party.
The lady officer further alleged that the AR personnel kept throwing sexually coloured remarks on her and kept on abusing her loudly and added that when she tried to call her senior officers, the Rifleman tried to snatch her mobile phone.
The complainant continued that while she reported the incident to her senior officer and the Brigadier of 26th Assam Rifles, the Rifleman informed the Major of 12 Assam Rifles D-Company.
The matter was brought to his notice and the issue was then brought under control.
Based on the complaint, a regular FIR has been registered against Rifleman PK Pandey and a summon has been issued instructing him to appear before the police station concerned.
On the other hand, it may be mentioned that the lady IPS officer, had recently been promoted to the rank of Additional SP .
