KAYDF endorses KSDDC

Imphal, February 19 2016 : The Khousabung Area Youth Development Forum (KAYDF) has endorsed the demand of Khousabung Subdivision Demand Committee (KSDDC) to rename Thangting SDO/BDO as Khousabung SDO/BDO.

In a statement, Nehminthang Singson, president of KAYDF said that Khousabung is the preferred choice of the majority of the people covered by the SDO/BDO circle.

The Cabinet decision to rename Thangting as Kangvai amounts to wilful disregard to the democratic voice of the people in general and deliberate negligence of the people and chiefs of Khousabung area in particular.

As such, the Govt should rename the new subdivision as 'Khousabung' .

The KAYDF had petitioned the authority concerned including the Dy CM and the local MLA to respect the voice of the people in deciding the location for the new subdivisional headquarters.

However, it is very unfortunate that the State Cabinet had taken a 'biased' decision to rename the new subdivision as Kangvai, it said.

The KAYDF has also recalled the assurance given by the Dy CM while attending the cultural festival organised by the Forum at Khousabung in April last year where the Dy CM said that the subdivisional headquarters be located at the place where the majority of the people want it to be.

However, the decision taken by the Govt in this regard is in total contrast to the assurance, the KAYDF said while questioning the motive behind the 'biased' decision.

Endorsing the demand of the Khousabung Subdivision Demand Committee for reviewing the Cabinet decision, the KAYDF said it would wholeheartedly support any steps taken by the KSDDC in this regard and the Govt should be held solely responsible for any untoward development arising out of it.

At the same time, strongly denouncing the Cabinet decision to renamed the Thangting SDO/BDO as Kangvai SDO/BDO, ex-officio coordinator of KAYDF, Paokholun Haokip said that Khousabung area has been neglected by the Govt on all fronts down the decades.

As such, the KAYDF would spare no efforts to fight the injustice done to the area.

The Forum, with all its resources, will fight till the end to bring justice to the people of Khousabung area.

He said that the 'grave injustice' done to the people of Khousabung area will never be forgotten in times to come.

Paokholun Haokip categorically stated that Kangvai, situated along the National Highway, is so close to CCpur district headquarters and there is no need to locate a subdivisional headquarters there.

As such, it would be prudent if the Govt reconsiders its decision to locate a subdivisional headquarters there for the sake of equitable development.

Meanwhile, a sit-in continued at Khousabung under the aegis of Khousabung Subdivision Demand Committee.
