National level workshop on "Implementation of NEP, 2020: Way Forward" held

The Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Manipur University, Imphal (India) organized a one day National Level Workshop on "Implementation of NEP, 2020: Way Forward" with reference to employability, vocational studies and skill development at the Court Hall, Manipur University today.
Mizoram University Vice Chancellor Professor KRS Sambasiva Rao, Manipur University Vice Chancellor Professor N Lokendra, University & Higher Education, Manipur Commissioner M Harekrishna, UGC, New Delhi Member Dr Kiran Hazarika and Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Manipur University Director Professor Ch Ibohal graced workshop as the presidium members.

Addressing the gathering, Sambasiva Rao stressed on the need for a practical oriented approach in the school curriculum right from the lower classes till the higher education level.
He said that students need proper vocational guidance and constant exposure to industrial or laboratory works from the early period of school education till the higher education level.
He further said that exposing students to industrial training will help them in getting jobs in their respective fields besides obtaining proper ideas and ability to take up enterprising works.
In regards to the National Education Policy 2020, the VC pointed out that sorting out the approaches and ways to obtain the targeted results of the new education should be a focus area for all the VCs of the universities, Principals of colleges and teachers of the educational institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, MU's Vice Chancellor Lokendra said that the NEP 2020 policy gives a lot of importance to writing, speaking, IT skills, foreign and regional language skills among others.
He also expressed belief that the new education policy will bring improvement in the education system and convert the knowledge of education in usable commodities in the society.
He further stated that the affiliated colleges of Manipuri University and Dhanamanjuri University will become either teaching colleges, research colleges or the constituent colleges of the universities depending upon their best parts of work.
