Imphal, November 18 2017: Ithai Barrage Area Development Society (IBADS) and people around Ithai Barrage today locked Ithai Barrage gate, shut all functioning of theNHPC.

Except emergency service, vehicles and school vehicles, other mode of transportation was halted completely chocking the daily activities.

The public outrage was a result of a long standing grivance which continues to go unnoticed by the NHPC since it first established Ithai Barrage in 1984.President of the Ithai Barrage Area Development Society, H Santa said, since its inception, the villages near the Ithai Barrage especially Laikhong, Warukok, Kompok and Ithai bazaar experienced many problems because of the barrage.

H Santa further said that the bandh will end at 6 pm today while the works and functions of NHPC will remain shunt until an agreement is reached between the NHPC and IBADS.
