Thermal screening begins at Mao Gate

Amid the continuous rise in number of COVID-19 cases in the state, thermal screening of all travellers entering Manipur has started at Mao Gate in Senapati district from Monday.
The development has come after the Health Department issued an order and directed relevant officers to resume screening process at all entry points of the state.
The order also directed health officials to conduct screening of army and paramilitary personnel entering the state without fail in view of rising trend of daily COVID-19 tally in the state during the last few days.
A 6-member team from district medical department has been stationed at Mao Gate for conducting thermal screening of all travellers entering the state and they are expected to stay at the gate until further notice from the
health department.
Multi-purpose workers, optometrist assistant, pharmacists, grade IV and ambulance driver also are stationed at the screening point.
According to a source, all travellers will be
screened at Mao entry point and if anyone is found suspicious of infection by Covid-19 virus, he/she shall be taken for RAT testing and their relatives informed about it.
Anyone with related symptoms will be asked to take RAT test by the medical department posted there.
As many 263 passengers of inter-state buses, Tata Wingers, trucks and other public transport vehicles were screened till 1.30 pm
on Monday but no one was found positive for Covid infection on the first day.
