Imphal, May 18 2012:
With the detention of three persons suspected to be involved in vehicle lifting and forging of documents, the Imphal West police alleged the involvement of Government officials including the DTO of Thoubal in the racket.
According to a statement issued by the SP of Imphal West, the district police had detected a racket/gang indulging in selling of stolen vehicles, preparation of fake documents and MV driving license, etc.
In its continued drive, the district police claimed to have seized five trucks which have been reportedly stolen from other States and detained three persons and recovered a huge number of documents including driving license in the names of different individuals whose particulars are allegedly fictitious.
Though without mentioning the names and particulars of the detained persons, the SP statement further maintained that preliminary investigation revealed the involvement of Government officials of the Police and Transport departments.
The statement claimed the involvement of a particular Government official, Simon Keishing, who is presently the DTO of Thoubal district while adding that a case has been registered at the Imphal PS for investigation.
