Court nods to judicial interrogation

The Special Court NIA Manipur has granted leave to the NIA for judicial interrogation of two persons who are currently lodged in jails outside the State in connection with a deadly attack at 2nd IRB headquarters, Naranseina Maning on April 27, 2024 in which two CRPF personnel were killed, and triggering an IED blast at Sapermeina Bridge on April 24, 2024 .
Two different applications were filed before the Special Court NIA today seeking leave for judicial interrogation of the accused persons, presently lodged in Central Jail Rohini, New Delhi and Central Jail, Guwahati for their possible link with the KNA cadres who were arrested by security forces on February 14, 2025 from Old Khaukhal village, Churachandpur district under Sangaikot Police Station.
The first application was filed against Thongminthang Haokip alias Thangboi Haokip alias Roger (38) s/o late Holkhasei of Malhoi (S), Churachandpur who is presently lodged in Central Jail Rohini, New Delhi.
Special PP of NIA submitted that during custodial interrogation of Thongminthang Haokip alias Thangboi Haokip alias Roger, he revealed that one Gigin was amongst the armed militants who attacked the CRPF camp at Naranseina Maning.
On the other hand, one Seikhogin Haokip alias Gigin was arrested at Churachandpur by security forces on February 14, 2025 .
The photograph of the arrested Seikhogin Haokip alias Gigin was collected for identification by Thongminthang Haokip alias Thangboi Haokip alias Roger, the special PP said before seeking the Court's permission for judicial interrogation of Thongminthang Haokip.
The second application was filed against Ls Yosef Chongloi (35) s/o (L) Letkholal Chongloi of Boljang village, Churachandpur who is currently lodged in Central Jail, Guwahati.
The NIA special PP said that during custodial interrogation, Yosef Chongloi had disclosed that he and some other members of United Kuki National Army (UKNA) including one Seimianlian Doungel were involved in blasting Sapermeina bridge on April 24, 2024 .
During investigation, some photographs and information of suspected persons were collected from reliable sources and the said photographs and other details are required to be confronted with the accused who is presently lodged in Central Jail, Guwahati, the special PP said.
The special PP said that examination of the accused is highly required for unearthing other relevant facts.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the special PP NIA and on perusal of the case records, granted leave to the NIA for judicial interrogation of the two accused.
