Imphal, January 18 2022:
Langthabal Kendra FPS Owners Association has stated that being included in the beneficiary list of National Food Security Act (NFSA)'s portal does not entitle one for the ration instantly.
The above statement was made by the representative of the association, Soibam Rishikanta while addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong today in connection with the news that 19 households of Langthabal Mantrikhong Makha Leikai included in the beneficiary list have not received their due share of rice and do not even possess ration cards.
He further stated that the process of adding new beneficiaries and Aadhar seeding under NFSA is an ongoing process and subsequently the name of the beneficiaries may be uploaded in the portal but they are not entitled to receive the rice instantly.
Elaborating on the above process, he said that the State needs to submit a proposal to the Central Government regarding the allocation of rice based on the number of beneficiaries and said that it is a lengthy process.
Once the proposal is accepted and the Central Government allocates the new share of rice, the same will be distributed to the new beneficiaries, he added.
S Rishikanta also clarified they have been informed that the official process is being carried on to distribute due share of rice to the new beneficiaries of Langthabal Assembly Constituency from this ongoing month onwards since the allocation started from December.
Stating that it is really unfortunate to charge baseless allegations on the FPS agents amid the ongoing official process, he maintained that there is a high possibility that the issue is being politicized.
He further stated that other parts of the State must also be experiencing the similar situation and appealed to all to contact the District Supply Officer, Imphal West for detailed information on the matter.
