Imphal, July 17 2014:
Clarifying that she was not at all involved in the killing of Soram Prakreet of Uripok Sorbon Thingel, popular singer Alvina Gonson has urged the concerned not to drag her name into the case.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, Alvina said that Prakreet's late elder brother Soram Parikshit was her brother-in-law as her elder sister Rina Gonson married to Parikshit.
Their son, who is currently reading in Class V, was looked after by Prakreet, the singer said.
Alvina said that she made a call to Prakreet at around 12.30 pm on July 4 as she wanted to share something about her altercation with her younger brother.
Prakreet came to her house that day and bought some medicine for her as well, Alvina added.
Before he went out from her house in the late afternoon, Prakreet received a call which he attended in private, Alvina said and added that she did not know who was the caller and what Prakreet had talked with the caller.
Saying that she also did not know where Prakreet had gone after he left her house, Alvina said that she even does not know where Kairang is located, from where Prakreet's body was recovered.
Informing that Prakreet's family had taken away her two mobile phones from her in the night of July 6, Alvina said that police had also already recorded her statements in connection with the incident.
As such, it is irrelevant to repeatedly drag her name into the case, Alvina said and added that unnecessary mentioning of her name in every agitation and sit-in-protest has tarnished her image.
In this regard, she also requested the People Action Committee and Uripok locals not to drag her into the case as she has nothing to do with it.
Taking part at the press conference, Tongjei Maril District Demand Committee Chairman Abon Kamei said that instead of pressing the police to trace the real culprits, the singer is being
targeted unnecessarily.
He also demanded the Government to book the culprits at the earliest.
Zeliangrong Student's Union, Manipur Chairman Kadijangbou Pamei was also present at the press conference.
