National Children Bravery awardees felicitated

Two recipients of National Children Bravery Award, 2011 were felicitated at a function organized by Manipur State Council for Child Welfare, MOirangkhom at Hotel Imphal here today.
The children who have honoured with National Children Bravery Award are Master Kshetrimayum Rakesh and Master Johnson Taorangbam.
Out of nine children nominated from Manipur, Master Kshetrimayum Rakesh and Master Johnson Taorangbam were selected for the award.
Altogether 26 children from different parts of the country have been selected for the prestigious award for the year 2011.The awardees received a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and a trophy each.
Master Tourangbam Johnson was awarded the National Children Bravery Award-2011 by the National Council for Child Welfare for his brave act in saving an 11-year old child from drowning in Jiri River.
Master Kshetrimayum Rakesh was also awarded the National Children Bravery Award-2011 by the National Council for Child Welfare for his brave act in saving a kid from drowning in the Imphal River.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the felicitation function, S Saratrkumar, ex-Director, Social Welfare Department, said that it was indeed a moment of pride that two children from the state of Manipur have been awarded the National Children Bravery Award-2011 .
There have been various incidents in the past where the children of the state were conferred with such prestigious awards for their act of bravery.
But it was very unfortunate that the state government seldom recognizes the bravery of these children and it has not even come up with any sort of incentives for them, he lamented.
The function was also attended by H Babudhan, President of Manipur State Council for Child Welfare and Y Sarat, Secretary of NSCCW as President and Guest of Honour respectively.
