Need to promote indigenous tribal art and culture highlighted

Imphal, November 16 2021:
A 3 day State level workshop on skill upgradation/capacity building of Tribal art and painting commenced today organised by the Tribal Research Institute (TRI) Manipur under Department of Tribal Affairs & Hills in collaboration with Imphal Art College.
The State level workshop is being organised with the support of Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, said a press release issued by C Arthur Worchuiyo, Director, TA&H/TRI, Manipur.
Speaking as the chief guest of the occasion, Letkhogin Haokip, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary emphasized on the need to preserve and promote the indigenous tribal art and culture.
Expressing himself as lover of Fine Arts, he encouraged the participants to seriously look into various facets of tribal way of life and culture and to explore various career opportunities and make meaningful gain out of the workshop.
A Hemanta Singh, Principal, Imphal Art College also expressed the need to provide skill training and guidance to the tribal people to enhance livelihood through artistic works and assured to extend full support to TRI to promote and preserve tribal art and culture.
