3 days National conference inaugurated

A 3 day National Conference on 'Priorities in crop protection for sustainable agriculture' was inaugurated today at the auditorium of College of Agriculture, Iroishemba.
The conference organised jointly by Central Agricultural University (CAU) and ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Research (nbair) was attended by Prof M Premjit, former vice-chancellor, CAU; Prof BK Agarwal, chairman, Tripura Pollution Control Board (TSPCB); Prof Indira Sarangthem, dean, College of Agriculture; Dr M Naresh, convenor (NCPCPSA) and HOD, ICAR-NBAIR and Prof RK Saha, chairman, NCPCPSA and director, CAU as presidium members.
Prof M Premjit said at the inaugural programme that discussion on ways and means to manage crops from pest and diseases in light of changing climate which serves as a catalyst in spreading pest and diseases is very important.
He also stretched the importance of removing weeds from the fields to ensure good productivity.
He also said the impact of climate change on crops should be taken very seriously as it has impacted the productivity of crops.
The programme was also attended virtually by Dr SC Dubey, ADG (PP&BS), ICAR, New Delhi and director ICAR-NBAIR, Bengluru through video conferencing.
