Imphal, January 16 2020:
Even though as many as 19 rulings MLAs have been demanding complete reshuffle of the incumbent Council of Ministers, the reshuffle is likely to be restricted to just three/four Ministers.
Notably, the 19 MLAs submitted a representation to Chief Minister N Biren to replace all the incumbent Ministers by January 15.The MLAs even resolved to stay away from the winter session of the State Assembly and they opened at camp at a hotel demanding induction of new faces in the Council of Ministers.
They attended the Assembly session only after Chief Minister N Biren and Speaker K Khemchand assured them that their demand would be considered positively.
Sources informed that N Biren may go to Delhi within the next couple of days in connection with the demand for ministry reshuffle.
One of the MLAs who have been demanding ministry reshuffle told The Sangai Express that the matter of reshuffling the Council of Ministers seems to be delayed as the process of electing a new president of BJP Manipur Pradesh has not been completed.
Saying that they have learnt about the Chief Minister's plan to go to Delhi at the earliest even though the deadline set for affecting the ministry reshuffle expired yesterday, the MLA conceded that the demand for replacing all the Ministers is unlikely to be realised.
Nonetheless, there is a strong possibility of replacing at least three/four Ministers, claimed the MLA.
Meanwhile, another source informed that two ministerial berths may be removed from both BJP and NPP which have four Ministers each in the Council of Ministers excluding the Chief Minister.
In their places, four new Ministers would be inducted from amongst the ruling MLAs.
