Shumang Leela Festival enters 2nd day

Imphal, December 15 2024: The Shumang Leela F estival 2024 entered the second day at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal on Sunday.

The festival is being jointly organised by Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur, in collaboration with Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Today, two plays namley "Mongphamthakki Tengthakhol" by Chanura Jatra cum Drama Association and "Waakhal Iromba" by Sana Leipak Nachom Artistes were showcased.

"Mongphamthakki Tengthakhol" is written by Nabadwip Ningthouja and directed by Iboyaima Khuman with Laitonjam Rita Leima paying the role of Khuman Ningthou Punsiba, Puthem Sarda Leima as Asheiroi Hanjaba, Toijam Aruna Chanu as Kokteisu Heirem Mani, Ningombam Bijenti as Heirem Kangbisu, B Lalitabi as Loishing khullakpa, Thingujam Sonia Devi as Khuman Uren Ngamba, A Sakuntala Devi as s Khuman Nongyai, Konthoujam Dhanapati as Chakha Mairemba Shikhong Ningthouba, Yungkham Memita Devi as Thoinu Hongbi, Soraisham Echal as Shingkhong Leima and Laimayum Nita Devi as Leima Namul Khambi.

"Waakhal Iromba" is written by Ranjit Ningthouja and directed by Shougrakpam Hemata, Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee.

In the drama, Shougrakpam Hemanta plays the character of Leibakmacha, O Prafullochandra as Angam Sheija, M Somendro as Thomson, L Dayananda as Aamin Ngankhei, Ng Mangiyaima as Ngaklou, Y Nillachandra as Piba, Kh Boby as Somi, H Tompok as Ningol, K Makemnganba as Lankholu, L Nareshkumar as Maingamla and Pangei Indrajit as Thourani.
