Siamsinpawlpi Residential School shows the way

Taking the message to the citizens in �lan, students and staff of the Siamsinpawlpi (SSPP) Residential School today walking around Lamka town with banners and placards encouraging the practice of walking, as part of the school's health and environment campaign.
Stressing on the alarming pollution level brought about by the town's ever-increasing number of new vehicles, along with the rise in obesity and pollution-related health problems in the State's second biggest township, the 'Walk for Health'organisers said their initiative was primarily aimed at spreading awareness about the health benefits of walking on foot.
Instead of taking the usually crammed and deafening diesel auto-rickshaws which has witnessed unprecedented surge of late, the students urge citizens to walk on their foot, a practice they said has tremendous health and environmental benefits.
They also shout 'More people walking on foot means cleaner air and healthier citizens", using a PA system.
The Siamsinpawlpi Residential School is a Government-recognized school run by the Siamsinpawlpi (Paite Students' Welfare Association) since 1998 under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
This is the first time that such a street campaign is held in town.
