59 out of 86 recorded in 24 hrs have no travel history

Out of 86 people tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, 59 have no history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, one 84 year old man from Heingang Kontha Ahallup, Imphal East who was tested positive for the virus after he was brought to JNIMS following a BP stroke died at the hospital this morning although he tested negative for COVID-19 yesterday.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 86 people including 15 CAPF personnel tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Raj Medicity, DH Bishnupur, DH Churachandpur, DH Thoubal, STDC/IRL, Imphal West RAT and Babina Diagnostic Centre.
They belong to Imphal West (28), Thoubal (8), Imphal East (13), Churachandpur (9), Noney (3), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (3) and Bishnupur (6) .
Meanwhile, 65 COVID patients have recovered and they have been duly discharged during the last 24 hours from CCC CAPF (20), RIMS (2), CCC Meitram (20), CCC Thoubal (18) and CCC Noney (5) .
So far, 2360 COVID-19 patients (general public 2168, Central security personnel 192) have been discharged, putting the recovery rate at 56.21 per cent.
The State's total tally of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 4198 (general public 3248, Central security personnel 950) and this include 1825 (general public 1067, Central security personnel 758) active cases.
Sources informed that 20 Assam Rifles personnel and two police personnel posted in Noney district have been tested positive for the contagion.
Further, 28 people were found infected by COVID-19 after rapid antigen test at some places of lmphal West district.
Ten of them belong to Changangei, two to Awang Khunou while eight are Manipur Rifles personnel.
Moreover, five people were found positive after rapid antigen test at Thoubal district hospital.
Asymptomatic COVID-19 positive may now stay at home in isolation, according to a new SOP issued by the Health Directorate this evening.
The SOP says that asymptomatic COVID-19 positive people may stay at home in isolation if they have separate room, bathroom and toilet and if they do not have such facility, they may stay at COVID Care Centres.
After the State Technical Expert Committee on COVID-19 concluded that there is first phase of community transmission in the State, the committee today submitted a report on their conclusion to the State Government.
With the COVID-19 positive cases surging rapidly, authorities have started due process to convert three hostels of Khuman Lampak, Bal Bhavan and one hall of National Sports University into COVID Care Centres which would have 1000 to 2000 beds, said the sources.
