Meritorious Assam Manipuri students feted

Manipuri students in Assam who secured first division in the Higher Secondary Examinations conducted by CBSE and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council were felicitated during a function organized by All Assam Manipuri Students Union (AAMSU), Silchar district committee on Sunday.
During programme held at the auditorium of Dr.B.R Ambedkar at Park Road Silchar, as many as 70 students were encouraged with presentation of citations and gifts.
Noted writer of Barak Valley Prof.Topodhir Bhattacharya, former Vice-Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar who graced the function as Chief Guest, advised the students to learn to speak the truth and be proud of being a Manipuri.

During the function, President of AAMSU central committee Seram Herajit singh was the special guest, while Saikhom Kamlakanta (former President, AAMSU & Chairman COCPIN), Advocate M.Rina, Dr.Kh.
Dhiren Singh (Professor, Assam University, Silchar), Prof.K.N.Chand ( Head of Dept.
of Manipuri, G.C.College, Silchar) and A.Chandmani Singh (Asst.
Engineer, Water Resource Division, Silchar) attended as guests of honour.
Raju Khumujam (Adviser, AAMSU Silchar District committee), S.Ranabir Singh (ex-G.S., AAMSU), Pangabam Nilkanta (Gen.
Secy., AAMSU central committee.) gave valuable speeches during the felicitation programme presided over by President of AAMSU Silchar district committee Taorem Debashis.
Meanwhile, the participants of the programme donated a sum of Rs.4,240 as assistance for Lakshman Singh, a class VII student of Cachar Bonatarapur who has been on treatment outside the state due to Brain-tumor.
The amount was handed over to his family members.
