Imphal, February 14 2017:
Expressing grave concern over the non-disclosure of the details of the Framework Agreement signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India, United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) have asked all the political parties and aspiring candidates of the ensuing Assembly election to pressurise the authority concerned to publicly furnish the contents of the agreement.
In a joint press statement, the two organisations also asked aspiring candidates of all the political parties to declare publicly that they would revolt against the peace talk between NSCN (IM) and GoI if the Framework Agreement threatens the territorial integrity of the State.
After knowing the contents of the agreement, political parties and aspiring candidates should exert pressure on the authority concerned to seek the opinion of the people of Manipur on the agreement, it stated.
The organisations made it clear that those political parties and aspiring candidates who do not pay heed to the people's voice on the agreement would not be forgiven.
Announcing that the organisations will launch a mass campaign along with the people regarding the onus put on the political parties and aspiring candidates, UCM and CSSK informed that public discourse, poster campaign and academic discussion will be held under the mass campaign.
As part of the campaign, political parties and aspiring candidates will be asked to give their stand and assurance in writing regarding the Framework Agreement, it said.
The organisations appealed to the people to extend support and cooperation in this regard.
