State pays tribute to valiant freedom fighters

The State paid tributes to valiant freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifices for the motherland on the occasion of Patriots' Day.
Justice Committee 1891
Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipuri War 1891, Martyrs and Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak (Justice Committee, 1891) observed the day by paying homage and floral tributes to the valiant forefathers who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the Motherland.
The committee in association with the families of the martyrs and freedom fighters paid tributes to the heroes who fought bravely against the Britishers for the cause of the motherland.
AMUCO
Members of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) along with president of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, Ima Memchoubi and president of AMAWOVA, Kunjarani paid floral tributes to the bust of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General erected at Cheiraoching on the occasion of Patriots' Day.
A general salute of Huyen Lanlong was also paid by the Apunba Huyen Lanlong Lup to the freedom fighters and patriots.
RIMS
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal observed Patriots' Day today in memory of heroes who laid down their lives for the protection of Manipur's independence.
Professor A Santa Singh, Director of RIMS, Professor N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, Professor Brogen Singh Akoijam, Dean (Academic), Professor M.Rameswar Singh, Head of Obst & Gynaecology and also Deputy Director (Link), officials, staff and students paid floral tributes to all fighters, including unsung heroes, said a press release by RIMS.
During the observance, the Director stated that many students from various parts of India are studying in this institute and these students are not only learning Manipuri language but also its culture and traditions.
He further stated that the Patriots' Day reminds us of the heroic acts of the Manipuris during the Anglo Manipuri War, 1891.As a part of the observation, the students of the institute presented patriotic songs and performed a skit.
The Director also distributed appreciation certificates to the selected doctors for their best performance in the last 4 months, added the release.
CADA
Commemorating the heroic acts and sacrifices of the forefather who strove for the protection of the motherland from the Britishers, Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) observed the Patriots' Day at the conference hall located at CADA Headquarters at Konung Mamang Pureiromba Khongnang Makhong today.
The attendees paid floral tributes to the photos of the heroes of the Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 .
Lions Clubs
Lions Club of Imphal observed the day at the Club's Service Centre located at Sangaiprou and paid tributes to the brave freedom fighters of the State.
Later a blood donation camp cum awareness campaign was also held at the Blood Bank of the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS as a part of the observation.
BCC Khundrakpam
Block Congress Committee (BCC) Khundrakpam under the aegis of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) observed Patriots' Day today.
K Meghachandra, president of MPCC and Th Lokeshwar, MLA of Khundrakpam AC led in paying floral tributes to the photos of the brave freedom fighters.
Patriotic poem recitation and painting competition was held as a part of the observation.
On the occasion of Patriots' Day, seven literary organisations namely NOHAKHOL, IMAKHOL, Progressive Writers' Association, ASEILUP, SATHOULUP, SHEIPAL and SALAN jointly organised a programme dedicated to the freedom fighters at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) today.
The programme was held in two sessions where the first session was graced by Langthabal AC MLA, Karam Shyam and president of ASEILUP, Dilip Mayengbam as the presidium members.
A book titled 'Khorilol da Khongjom Lan' was released during the first session.
A record was created during the second session where around 75 writers of the State read out patriotic poems.
The second session was graced by presidents of the seven literary organisations as presidium members.
Also the Directorate of Agriculture, Govt of Manipur; Ideal Girls' College, Akampat; DM College of Science; DM College of Teacher Education, United Peoples' Front, Manipur, UNACCO School, Khongman, RK Sanatombi Devi College of Education and Manipuri Meitei Association, Bangalore (MMAB) too joined in observing the Patriots' Day.
In connection with Patriots' Day, Khundrakpam Kendra Youths Organization (KHUKYO) organised a sapling plantation programme while Young Voluntary Organisation (YVO), Wangkhei organised a blood donation camp at Wangkhei Community Hall, Wangkhei Durga Puja Lampak.
