Sewing machine distributed as vocational training programme ends

Imphal, July 13 2020: Sewing machines were distributed to 25 destitute women and widows during a valedictory function of a vocational training programme for tailoring and embroidery held today at Tera.

The training programme was conducted with an aim to empower and encourage destitute women and widows and certificates were also distributed during today's programme which was presided by S Satyabhama, Chairperson of Manipur State Women Development Corporation Limited.

Speaking on the occasion, S Satyabhama encouraged all the recipients to start earning at their respective homes with the sewing machines being provided today.

The machines were specially provided in view of the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, she said while adding that it will surely help in alleviating their hardships during the lockdown.

They can also start earning simply by making face masks during these lockdown days, she remarked.

She also continued that she is always open to discuss matters relating to women empowerment and always ready to assist.

She further maintained that the programme was conducted with strict observance of safety guidelines by health authorities and expressed regret that only 25 women were shortlisted for the sewing machines.
