Imphal, February 13 2020:
Since the enforcement of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in the State from January 1 this year, 33,995 permits have been issued to non-local people and the State Government has earned a revenue of around Rs one crore out of the permit system.
This was stated by Chief Minister N Biren at the launching function of an ILP portal at the Chief Minister's Secretariat this afternoon.

Speaking at the function, Chief Minister N Biren claimed that different measures were put in place before ILPS was extended to the State to check entry of nonlocal people as well as illegal immigrants.
The State Government has been working hard to enforce ILPS in a very systematic manner.
Revenue earned from ILPS would be deposited in a separate account of the Home Department and the State Government has given due approval for the same, Biren said.
The ILP portal launched today would facilitate issuance of permits online.
It would also help in identifying forged permits, he said.
The Chief Minister said that the online permit would be made available at Mao, Moreh, Jiribam, Jessami, Behiang, Sinzawl and at Imphal airport.
The same facility would be available at Imphal airport from tomorrow itself and all non-local people would be issued permits instantly, Biren said.
The software launched today would put to rest all the doubts raised by several civil society organisations, Meira Paibis, clubs and the public about strict enforcement of the ILPS.
The software would also help trace non-local people who have entered the State and no non-local man would be able to stay hidden in the State without obtaining Inner Line Permit, Biren asserted.
Necessary appliances would be installed to make ILP portalwww.manipurilponline.com available at Mao, Moreh, Jiribam, Jessami, Behiang and Sinzawl too from March 1 .
Manipuri people settled outside the State would not be covered by the ILP regime, Biren said.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched www.manipurtaxes.gov.in under Department of Taxes, Government of Manipur.
People can get latest information on taxes like GST, VAT for petroleum products and alcohol and Professional Tax.
Taxpayers can also provide feedback and contact through a toll-free number or email.
Such initiative of the Government would improve the ease of doing business in the State.
