Imphal, September 12 2020: National Organisation Secretary of the National Peoples' Party (NPP) James Pangsang Kongkal Sangma , who is also the Power Minister of Meghalaya Government who arrived here in Imphal Airport at around noon today along with his brother Conrad Sangma , the Chief Minister, Meghalaya and his OSD to discuss the internal political conflict in the state was found to be COVID-19 positive while tested at Imphal Airport using Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) .

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and his OSD were however tested negative.

The three leaders were received at Imphal Airport by Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, Sports Minister Letpao Haokip, Health Minister JayentaKumar and Fishery Minister Kaishii , who is also the interim President of the NPP Manipur.

A source from inside the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport said that all the visiting VVIPs stayed chatting with the state NPP leaders who went to receive them at VIP lounge while they were waiting for the test result.

The three of them including Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Power Minister James K Sangma arrived here at Imphal Airport at around 12:50 pm at an Indigo Flight 6-E 2019 from New Delhi.

The source said that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and James K Sangma were in the same first row seat of the flight .

While Conrad seat was 1C , James K Sangma seat was 1D and the OSD's seat number was 1A.This means that the three were too close while coming to Imphal that took around 3 hours.

Lately, the Union Health Ministry had directed all States and Union Territories to compulsorily test with RT-PCR if a potential suspect is tested negative while tested at RAT.

The Manipur Health Department has also been following the same as per a report.

The source said that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and his OSD went to Classic Hotel while his brother and James K Sangma were left at the airport.

Initial source said that James K Sangma had already prepared to return back to Meghalaya and for that a Chopper had already been hired.

The initial report said that he will directly fly to Shillong after 6 pm at the Chopper.

Meanwhile, samples of the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and his OSD has been collected for testing at RT-PCR for confirmation.
