Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar and Chief Minister O Ibobi have joined the people of the State in paying tribute and homage to the brave ladies of Manipur who fought against monopolistic policies of the colonial rule and came to the fore for bringing the socio-political reforms in the State on the occasion of Nupilan Observation 2013 .
In a message, the Governor complimented the brave ladies of Manipur who fought against the monopolistic trade practices and feudalism during the colonial rule in 1939 .
"The agitation, now known as the second Nupilan, is a unique historical episode of Manipur that reminds us of the courage, sacrifice and patriotism of these women," the Governor underlined while calling upon all concerned to resolve to work together to make Manipur a peaceful and prosperous State.
Chief Minister O Ibobi noted in his message that Nupilan is one of the important movements of the womenfolk of Manipur which has carved a distinct niche in the history of Manipur while also adding that the Nupilan of 1939 is indeed a vivid protest for the cause of right to food.
The CM appealed all concerned to come and work together as one to fight against all evils and menaces in the society saying only then the homage to those brave Imas would be meaningful.
