Imphal, December 11 2012:
Reacting to news report published today about troops of 30 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector arresting one Wairokpam Roshan s/o Ibochouba from Loushang-khong Mayai Leikai area, as a UNLF member, the outfit dismissed the claim by the PRO IGAR (S) as misleading information/propaganda.
A UNLF statement issued by its senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba said that W Roshan had retired from the UNLF/MPA more than 13 years back.
no only had Roshan severed all connections with the organisation, but he has also been living a civilian life after marriage, Yoiheiba said and alleged that Roshan was also pulled up and tortured by AR troops on earlier occasions to join staged surrender ceremonies.
Stating that such misdemeanours and atrocities committed by Indian security forces should be exposed through public movements, he observed that of late tendency of the public to tolerate security force excesses has emboldened security forces to continue random arrest, torture or slay people at will.
While it is responsibility of the masses to protect public properties and lives, members of insurgent groups should note that expecting normal livelihood by abandoning ongoing revolutionary movement would be futile as agents of Indian Government are carrying out a sinister campaign to wipe out the indigenous people, he alleged.
