Imphal, August 10 2015:
The United National Liberation Front of WESEA (UNLFW), the Coordination Committee (CorCom), the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) and the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) have jointly called for total shut down in Western South East Asia (North East India) from August 14 midnight till 6 pm of August 15 .
Essential services, emergency measures, media and religious activities would be exempted from the shut down, conveyed a press statement issued by the CorCom publicity committee convenor.
India's yearly independent day celebration by unfurling her tri-colour in WESEA region is nothing but reaffirmation of the alleged Indian colonial occupation over the region and people.
The Indian establishment is obstinate to keep their occupation symbol flying high for the world to see defying the democratic norms of the civilized countries of the world and is itself a provocation", it alleged.
The revolutionary organizations of the Region are determined to resist the Indian hegemonic occupation of the region, by all means necessary.
"We understand the hidden agenda of the so-called "Peace Talk" offered by the colonial regime within the Indian Constitution, which is akin to a "Sugar Coated Bullet".
It is just one of the many dirty tactics of India for perpetual colonization and acceptance of this "Peace Talk" would itself be surrendering of our freedom to the Indian Colonial Rule", it alleged.
The only way to be free from the bondage of Indian occupation is to defeat the Indian military and drive them out of the soil of WESEA forever.
"Therefore, we are determined to fight until we are able to break free of the colonial shackle", it said.
The rebel groups appealed to all the people in the region to avoid the celebration and any supportive activity in connection with it and to display solidarity against India, the alleged common enemy, by making the total shut down a complete success.
