Imphal, February 10 2016:
All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) has strongly condemned the reported inclusion of 40-year-old woman among the list of girl student who received bi-cycle from Keirao Kendra Development Committee under the Ministry of Minority Affairs' Multi Sectorial Programme.
Speaking to mediapersons, AMMSO president Md Farid Khan said Keirao Kendra MLA Thamarjit Karam in association with Keirao Kendra Development Committee and Secular Muslim Development Committee distributed bi-cycles to 73 selected girl students under Ministry of Minority Affairs' Multi Sectorial Programme in a distribution function held at Kiyamgei Thongkhong bus waiting shed.
The association has alleged that 75 percent of girls in the list are not students.
AMMSO, after a survey, found that Chingkham Makha High School, from where 14 students were listed to receive the bi-cycles was abolished 5 years ago.
Even the school building and school complex had been auctioned, AMMSO president alleged.
Seeking clarification from MLA Thamarjit, Keirao Kendra Development Committee and Secular Muslim Development Committee, the association president question how 14 students have been selected from a school that went extinct for nearly 5 years.
Two of the beneficiaries Baby Chandani Pathan (standard IX) of Kiyamgei High Madrassa and Saharna Begum (class X) of Master English School are in reality women of 40 and 35 years respectively.
What is more surprising is that Baby Chandani Pathan who was listed as standard IX student is actually mother of 5 children.
Under the Multi Sectorial Programme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, selected minority girl students are provided bicycles worth Rs 5000 .
Condemning the alleged fraud by the MLA and the two committees, AMMSO has demanded clarification from the same within 5 days time.
Manipur Muslim Welfare organisation, United Manipur Muslim Women Development Organisation and Manipur State Minority Youth Development Organisation have also condemned act.
