100-Day Intensified Campaign on TB Elimination launched

The launching ceremony of "100-Day Intensified Campaign on TB Elimination" was held today at Panchayat Bhavan, DC Complex, Porompat, Imphal East district today.
The event was organised by the District Health Society, National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), Imphal East on the theme, "JAN-JAN KA RAKHE DHYAN TB-MUKT BHARAT ABHIYAN".
It was attended by ADM/CEO Imphal East, Dr N Johnson; Chief Medical Officer, Imphal East, Dr L Indira Devi and State Program Manager, JHPEIGO, Ngaseppam Monota as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr N Johnson stressed on the importance of" 100-Day Intensified Campaign on TB Elimination" which aims to accelerate the fight against TB by improving case detection, reducing diagnostic delays, and enhancing treatment outcomes, particularly for vulnerable populations.
"A major focus of the TB Elimination Campaign will be the strengthening of diagnostics and treatment services, particularly for the most vulnerable groups", said Dr N Johnson while adding that the campaign will target high-burden areas with specialized strategies designed to improve access to advanced diagnostics and reduce the delay in treatment initiation.
Dr L Indira said that as a signatory to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), India is committed to meeting the target of ending TB by 2025, five years ahead of the SDG deadline of 2030 .
She asserted that TB is an infectious disease which can be effectively managed and controlled through early detection & proper treatment.
Ngaseppam Monota said, "Spanning 347 districts across 33 States and Union Territories, the campaign represents a critical component of India's strategy to eliminate TB and build a TB-free Nation".
She shared that the campaign has also been launched in six districts of Manipur namely Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Chandel and Churachandpur.
Dr N Johnson also flagged off an awareness vehicle, "Nikshay Vahan" as part of the 100-day TB elimination campaign.
