Lamka, December 09 2011:
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalthanhawla today advocated peace among the kindred 'Zo' tribes here as he attended the first ever Manipur Mizo meet today at Kawnpui village.
My hands are never too short to help my fellow Mizos wherever they are, he said amidst a cheering crowd.
"Stay loyal to your respective governments, and remember that the land you lived upon was yours", he said.
"Artificial boundaries may have kept us apart but it will never succeed in separating our hearts and minds", he added.
The Chief Minister spoke at length on the achievements of his government in the State of Mizoram, and in the course of doing so his speech it became clear that there was a sea of differences on how the Centre Government has a completely different perception in dealing the Congress Govt in Manipur and Mizoram.
He said the Government of Mizoram had approached the Centre for funds to overhaul all rural houses into a tin-roof and claimed that beyond their expectations the Centre had granted them around 200 lakhs in excess as it felt the State Government will need more capitals on monitoring and other factors that was not comprehended by the State Government.
This is in complete contrast to the Government of Manipur whose proposals at the Centre was always cut back by the latter.
Upholding a sense of brotherhood amongst the 'Zo' decendandts, be it the Mizo or Zomi was the common message the visiting guests had brought along.
Accompanied by his wife, a couple of Ministers, another couple of Govt officials and CSO leaders of the Mizos, Lanthanhawla landed here at around 9.30AM and will hold for a night before heading back to Aizawl in an Air India flight tomorrow.
