Hiroshima & Nagasaki Day observed

Manipur Tourism Forum observed Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day at Imphal Peace Museum Maibam Lotpa Ching.
Nambol today to commemorate the victims of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 towards the end of World War II.
As a part of the day's observance ceremony, a book authored by Dr Khangembam Samungou titled "The Story of Paper Crane Girl - Sadako Sasaki" was also released.
Dignitaries present at the event include Th Basantakumar Singh, Minister, Education and Law & Legislative Affairs as the chief guest; Dr Kh Krishnan Singh, president, Manipur Tourism Forum as the functional president and Professor N Lokendra Singh, VC Manipur University and Lourembam Bikram, IAS, DC Bishnupur as the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Th Basantakumar Singh stated that the establishment of the Imphal Peace Museum is a matter of pride not only for Manipur but for the whole country.
Touching upon the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Minister said that the fallout of these unfortunate incidents witnessed by the world has reduced the chances of future large scale wars.
He also added that in some way, nuclear arms also act as a deterrent that prevents humanity from delving into an all-out war.
The Minister stated that Japan as a country, was able to rise from the destruction caused by the atomic bombings through its focus on education and the way it positively boosted their economy.
He also called for the transformation of Imphal Peace Museum into a tourism hotspot by adding it into the tourist circuit.
L Bikram addressed the gathering and said that the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki took the lives of a huge number of people.
The day is observed to ensure that peace prospers in the world, he said.
The DC also emphasized on the importance of holding dialogue to solve problems rather than resorting to violent means.
