Imphal, December 08 2012:
Having suffered substantial setbacks in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaigns following bomb attacks by insurgent groups both the Central and State security forces have been resorting to various tactics, including exploding bombs, to put the people against the insurgent groups, alleged the proscribed UNLF.
In a statement issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba, the UNLF contended that whenever there is attack against security forces, the organisation concerned either claims the attack or issues clarification if any civilian casualty is caused by such attacks.
Cautioning the people to remain vigilant to foil sinister ploys of security forces to pit the common people against the UGs, Yoiheiba contended that circumstantial evidence of the November 27 blast near Khurai Chairenthong (bridge) indicates involvement of Central security force in the particular incident.
Substantiating, the senior publicity officer observed that police investigation team suspecting hands of central security forces in the bomb explosion cannot be entirely ruled out.
Moreover, the masses are aware of the fact that individuals with vested interests are being utilised by the security forces to malign recent successful bomb attacks by UG groups, he said and cited instances of State police arresting individuals working with the patronage of Central security forces as some glaring evidences of failed attempts to create chaos and confusion by security agents in the society.
Directing the tirade against State forces, particularly police commandos, Yoiheiba said it is an open secret that uniformed personnel (commandos) harass/detain wealthy individuals and contractors by levelling false charges against them during or around festivals to ultimately release them in exchange for huge sum of money.
Describing the police commandos' alleged misconduct as following in the foot-steps of the central forces, the UNLF statement further claimed that there is no doubt about involvement of State forces in the recent killing of Yanglem Naoba alias Bisheshore of Thoubal.
Locals from the CM's assembly constituency vehemently protesting the killing is on the basis of involvement of some police commando friends of the deceased even though the CM or his ministerial colleagues might be pretending that they have no clue about identity of the killer(s), Yoiheiba alleged while asserting that there is no reason why the truth cannot be established in a day or two's investigation.
He further pointed to the recent outburst by the Supreme Court against the Government of Manipur with regard to branding of minor boys as UG elements by the latter, to drive home the point that security forces continue to slay innocent people in stage-managed encounters.
Conveying that time has come for the masses to introspect who the real killers are, Yoiheiba said comment by the CM himself that killing is inevitable is itself an evidence that the Government of India and its agents have turned Manipur into a killing field.
On through concerted effort of the masses in exposing such misadventure of the Government will be able to restore and protect rights of the citizens, he said.
