Imphal, September 08 2011: A large number of local people staged a protest demonstration at Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai today decrying the bomb attack at the residence of Jyotin Waikhom, who is the secretary of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee.

Unidentified armed persons reportedly hurled a hand grenade inside the residential compound of Jyotin Waikhom located in Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai at around 8.40 pm yesterday.

The protest demonstration started from 10 am and continued till 4 pm.

Talking to mediapersons on the sideline of the protest demonstration, Jyotin Waikhom demanded that the attackers to come out with a clarification within seven days and informed that he has no enmity with anyone nor received any monetary demand from banned underground organisations.

Suspecting political motive behind the attack to sabotage his political career, Jyotin also appealed to the Government for taking up necessary measures for identification and arrest of all those involved in the bomb attack.
