Imphal, August 08 2015 :
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has urged the Government to bring a peaceful atmosphere, conducive for resumption of classes in educational insti-tutions by fulfilling the people's demand for implementation of ILPS.
In a statement, JCILPS said that the Government has turned a deaf ear to the people's voice although the State has been witnessing intense agitations since the past one month.
Instead of taking up immediate measures to fulfil people's demands, the Government has been adopting a repressive policy through its police force.
Different forms of atrocities like thrashing, firing tear gas shells and mock bombs and even dragging girl students by hair have been meted out to agitating people and students, the statement said.
Instead of putting in effort to restore peace and normalcy, the Government is trying to take the life of more students by opening the educational institutes of greater Imphal area although the situation is still highly volatile, JCILPS said.
It is not right to open the educational institutes while Robinhood's body is still lying in the morgue with the last rites yet to be performed.
