Confusion on land ownership triggers confrontation

Imphal, June 08 2022: Some section of people have opposed the Government's move instructing ponies (stray or otherwise) to be kept at owners' homes or at the portion of land at AYUSH Hospital, Lamphelpat, with the claim that the assigned land belongs to them.

A stir broke out over the confusion between the alleged land encroachers and Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association (MHRPA) when MHRPA tried to keep their ponies at the site allotted by the Government.

With the alleged land encroachers claiming the site as theirs, the tussle turned uglier as arguments heated up between the two sides.

Later, the ponies were allowed to be kept at the allotted site after police intervention.

However, the matter of land ownership between the two parties could not be resolved amicably as the alleged encroachers produced many related documents.
