10 year old girl killed in mishap

Thoubal, February 08 2021: A truck ran over and killed a 10 year old girl today morning at Irong Chesaba Makha Leikai under Mayang Imphal Police station.

The deceased has been identified as Misba (10) d/o Md Abir Khan of Irong Chesaba Makha Leikai.

The incident happened when Misba was going to tuition in a bicycle and the truck which came from Thoubal towards Mayang Imphal hit her.

The police picked up the body and it is being kept at JNIMS morgue for post mortem.

A case has also been registered and the police have apprehended the truck driver.

On the other hand, Md Tarij Khan, general secretary of Irong Chesaba Development Forum ICDF alleged that today's incident occurred due to the negligence of the contractors responsible for the road repairing work being carried out at Irong Chesaba.

They asked all the concerned to stop the repairing work with immediate effect until a meeting is held between the contractors concerned and the locals of Irong Chesaba and ICDF.

He continued that today's incident can be termed as man made as the road repairing work is below standard and the locals are highly dissatisfied with the work and the commuters are facing a lot of inconvenience because of the slow pace of work.

Md Tarij Khan condoled the demise of the young girl and stated that the department and contractors concerned are responsible for the unfortunate incident.

Further he warned that ICDF along with the locals will carry out various forms of democratic protests if their demands are not heeded before February 10 .
