Imphal, June 07, 2013:
The JCILPS has categorically stated that the State Government can never succeed in suppressing the movement being spearheaded by its students' wing by arresting some student leaders.
Asking Manipur Police to immediately stop searching student leaders at their offices and homes, a press release issued by JCILPS demanded that unconditional release of the arrested student leaders.
Taking student activists into police custody and resorting to brute force would only strengthen the movement aimed at enforcing ILPS in Manipur.
Claiming that the question of enforcing ILPS is sanctioned by Article 19(5) of the Indian Constitution, the joint committee alleged that the Government of Manipur does not understand the Indian constitution fully.
It is advisable for State Government authorities to re-read and analyse the Indian Constitution once again.
Saying that the line of action announced by the JCILPS and its students' wing would continue, it called upon all sections of the society to join the campaign enmasse.
Saying that some of the arrested students are giving BA/BSc/BCom exams, it demanded immediate release of all the arrested students.
